Good Products For Natural Hair
Im black and have natural hair, can anyone recommend a few good products?
I’m looking for a few products for natural hair (not relaxed, straightened e.t.c). Im looking for one to make it straighter and sleeker and one to make curls…curl activator doesn’t work for me =/. My hair is quite long for a black person, help please! =]
Hi there, I am a natural sista too. I try to stay consistent with my hair routine and what my hair likes. My hair does not like alot of different products (not a product junkie). So I keep them down to 3 products. I am 2 years natural with hair past my shoulders and I have use the Organix shampoo and conditioner which you can find at walgreens and CVS stores(coconut milk or the shea butter line). Suave humectant conditioner only for cowashes. Also I use Cantu shea butter leave-in conditioner repair cream for daily moisturizing and hair softness. For my curl definition I use the Fantasia IC styling gel with aloe or Softee clear protein gel.
I hate curl activator because most times it leaves your hair either dry and crunchy later or real heavy and greasy looking. Not for most of us long-haired naturals. My product suggestions may not work for your hair but at least they will give you the curl definition and softness that your looking for. My hair doesn’t like too much oil or or products containing them. I stick to water and shea butter based products.
For moisturizing your hair you can try glycerin mixed with distilled water and essential oils (jojoba, unrefined shea butter, or extra virgin olive oil) .
I don’t have any recommendations for the straight and sleek look due to me not using any heat on my hair. I find that having less to no heat on your hair is better than having split end damage and frequent trimmings. No heat and moisturizing my hair was the key to my long hair now.
