how long should you wait to dye your hair after a lice treatment?

i had to do a lice treatment on my hair yesterday… just wondering how long i should wait before i dye my hair

Well, it depends what kind of dye you use.

If the dye you are referring to is the semi-permanent kind available in boxes from the drugstore, you should be good about 2 weeks after you do the lice treatment. Not only because your hair is being exposed to too many harsh chemicals, but if residual chemicals from the lice treatment remain in your hair after you dye it then the color of the dye can change (think green).

If the dye is permanent (will not wash out of your hair until your hair grows out) or is done at a professional salon, I would give it a month.

It sucks, I know, but better be on the safe side than wind up looking like a demented leprechaun.

Oh yeah- next time you have lice, try mayonnaise instead; It works just as well as conventional lice treatments but without all the chemicals that fry your hair. Also, after the treatment is finished your hair will be literally mirror-shiny.
